Cause of illness  ( Lesson 18, Page 1 of 1 )

Have you ever wondered if many of the prevalent diseases in our society have a common cause? Many medical herbalists and nutritionists believe that the explanation may be in these simple words:

pH imbalance

Acid-base imbalance

Hyperacidity, which can become a dangerous condition, weakening the systems of the entire body, is very common today. It creates an internally favorable environment for diseases, as opposed to a pH balanced environment that allows the normal body essential body function to resist diseases.
A healthy body maintains sufficient basal reserves to meet urgent needs.
When the extra acids need to be neutralized, our base stores are depleted, leaving the body in a weakened condition. According to many experts, a PH balanced diet is an important key to maintaining good health.

The concept of acid-base imbalance as a cause of disease is not new.
In 1933, in New York, a doctor named William Howard Hay published a groundbreaking book,
A New Health Era , in which he claims that all diseases are caused by autotoxication (or "self-poisoning") due to the accumulation of acid in the body:

We are now deviating from health in the same proportion in which we have allowed the alkalinity of our bodies to disappear by using too many acidifying foods ... It may seem strange to say that all diseases are due to the same thing, how innumerable they manifest, but it is certainly so. -William Howard Hay, MD

Recently, in his major book Alkalize or Die, Dr. Theodore A. Baroody says essentially the same thing:
The myriad names of diseases don’t matter that much. What matters is that they all come for the same basic reason ... there is too much acid waste in the body tissues`! -Theodore A. Baroody, ND, DC, Ph.D.

Understanding pH

pH (hydrogen potential) is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. It is measured on a scale of 0-14. The lower the pH, the more acidic the solution, the higher the pH, the more basic the solution. When the solution is neither acidic nor basic, it is pH 7, which is neutral.

Water is the most common compound in the human body, accounting for 70% of the body. The body has an acid-base ratio called pH, which expresses the balance between positively charged ions (acidifying) and negatively charged ions (causing alkalinity).
The body constantly strives to balance pH. When this balance is compromised, many problems can occur.

It is important to understand that we are not talking about stomach acids or stomach pH. We are talking about the pH of body fluids and tissues, which is a completely different matter.

Test your body for acidity or alkalinity with pH strips:

It is recommended that you test pH levels to see if your body’s pH needs immediate attention.

Using pH strips, you can quickly and easily determine pH factors in the privacy of your own home. If your urine pH varies between 6.0 and 6.5 in the morning and between 6.5 and 7.0 in the evening, your body will function in a healthy area.

If your saliva stays between 6.5 and 7.5 throughout the day, your body will work in a healthy area.  The best time to test the pH is about one hour before a meal and two hours after a meal. Test the pH two days a week.

Most people who suffer from an unbalanced pH are acidic. This condition

forces the body to borrow minerals such as calcium, sodium, potassium, and magnesium from the body’s vital organs and bones , to buffer (neutralize) the acid and safely remove it from the body. Under such a strain, the body can suffer severe and long-term damage due to too high an acidity.
- A condition that can go undetected for years.

Mild acidosis can cause problems such as:

  • Cardiac damage such as vasoconstriction and hypoxia.
  • Weight gain, obesity and diabetes.
  • Bladder and kidney condition, including kidney stones.
  • Immune deficiency.
  • Accelerated free radical (cell / tissue) damage, possibly promoting cellular DNA / cancer mutations.
  •  Hormone problems.
  • Premature aging.
  • Osteoporosis; weak, brittle bones, hip fractures and bone damage.
  • Joint pain, muscle pain and lactic acid accumulation.
  • Low energy and chronic fatigue.
  • Slow digestion and excretion.
  •  Yeast / fungal overgrowth. (Candida albicans)

Urine pH

Urine can show how well your body secretes acids and takes in minerals, especially calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. These minerals act as "buffers."
Buffers are substances that help the body maintain balance and take up too much acidity or too much alkalinity. Even with the right number of buffers, acidity or alkalinity levels can become extreme. When the body eats or produces too many of these acids or bases, it needs to excrete excess out.
Urine is the body’s perfect way to remove any excess acidic or alkaline substances that cannot be buffered. If the average urine pH is less than 6.5, the body’s buffer system is overloaded. This is an "autotoxic" condition and attention should be paid to lowering acid levels.

Salivary pH

Saliva test results may indicate the activity of enzymes in the body in the digestive tract.
These enzymes are produced primarily in the stomach, liver and pancreas. Although saliva also utilizes buffers such as urine, its effect is based on this process to a much lesser extent. If the pH of the saliva is too low (less than 6.5), the body may produce too much acid or may be “overwhelmed” by the acids because it has lost the ability to eliminate them sufficiently through the urine. If the saliva pH is too high (above 6.8), the body can suffer greatly, with symptoms such as excess gas, constipation and yeast, mold and fungi. Some people have too acidic pH readings in both urine and saliva, this is called "double acidity."

Restoring body pH balance

Your body can only properly utilize minerals and nutrients when its pH is in balance. So it is possible that you can eat healthy ingredients and still your body will not be able to utilize or use them. If you are not getting the results you expect from your nutrition or vegetarian diet, look for a solution to the acid-base imbalance. Even the right plant-based nutrition program may not work if your body’s pH is out of balance.

Change the pH balance from acidic to alkaline

By far the most common imbalance seen in our society is hyperacidity. If the urine and / or saliva test is below pH 6.5, begin steps 1-5 below and continue adding steps until the desired result is achieved. Be sure to track your progress easily using pH tape measures.

pH Balance Supplements for Overly-Alkaline

Alkalinity is relatively rare, but if your urine and / or saliva consistently test above 7.0 pH, start with steps 1, 2 and 3 below and continue adding steps until the desired results are achieved. Be sure to monitor your progress with easy-to-use pH test strips. You will notice that some of these steps are the same as those recommended above for an overly acidic condition. This is because these steps have a buffering effect, or in other words they are balancing , Tending to bring the pH back toward normal no matter which direction it has gone:
  1. Enzymes are essential: Take 1-2 capsules of Food Enzymes or Proactazyme Plus with every meal. Also take 1-2 capsules of High Potency Protease and Nature's Noni between meals on an empty stomach.
  2. Support urinary and lymphatic systems' ability to excrete toxins: Take Kidney Drainage and Lymphatic Drainage in water according to directions. Then use Lymphomax and Urinary Maintenance to maintain.
  3. Correct calcium is needed: Use NSP's Liquid Calcium .
  4. Vitamin C: Use Timed-Release Vitamin C . Use 3,000 mg or more, to maximum bowel tolerance. (If diarrhea occurs, reduce intake.)
  5. Flax Seed Oil: Use 1 capsules of Flax Seed Oil 3 times a day or 2 tablespoons of Liquid Flax Seed Oil daily.
  6. Cleanse as needed: Take a psyllium hulls supplement such as Psyllium Hulls Combination or Psyllium Hulls Capsules at Bedtime to maintain regular bowel movements. Use CleanStart or Chinese Tiao He Cleanse twice a year for liver, bowel and kidney detoxification.

Question:
When having a heartburn, take a spoonful of baking soda,
what is that chemical reaction?

When you have a spoonful of baking soda for bad heartburn, what is the chemical reaction that takes place in the stomach after that and what is the "gas" that comes out of your mouth immediately when you belch?
The "medicine" is probably not very healthy, but it is one of the fastest-acting and most effective in the world.

Answer
Substances that reduce stomach acid are called antacids.
The most common antacids are calcium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, magnesium oxide and sodium bicarbonate, or baking soda.
Both baking soda itself and baking soda water have been used to treat hyperacidity and stomach ulcers for a long time. Because baking soda is a basic substance, it neutralizes hydrochloric acid secreted by the stomach relatively quickly.

When baking soda breaks down in the stomach, hydrochloric acid is converted to sodium chloride and carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide can cause a feeling of fullness, flatulence and belching in the stomach.

Sodium bicarbonate affects the body's acid-base balance, but a person with a healthy kidney can temporarily use small amounts of baking soda relatively safely. Continuous, regular use can lead to alkalosis  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alkalosis

Reporting of COVID-19 Ct Values Can Better Shape Public Policy

  • The cycle threshold (Ct) value is the number of cycles needed for the virus to be detected from the person’s sample.
  • The higher the Ct value the smaller the amount of virus present in the sample.
  • Most medical experts agree that Ct values over 33 likely indicate non-infectious, non-contagious levels of the virus.

Reporting of COVID-19 Ct Values Can Better Shape Public Policy

Not All Positive Tests Are the Same

Despite months of stonewalling of prior APRA requests … and just one day after a petition campaign by the RI Center for Freedom & Prosperity sent over 1,000 emails to various state-government officials, including the DOH and the governor … the Center has obtained information released to a persistent citizen by the state Executive Office of Health and Human Services; partial data covering a limited number of positive Covid-19 tests performed before July 2020.

According to Dr. Andrew Bostom, Covid-19 advisor to the Center and Rhode Island resident, a Brown University degreed epidemiologist, academic internist, and clinical trialist:

This first public revelation of cycle threshold (Ct) data, from over 5,000 RIDOH covid-19 rtPCR positive tests from late February through the end of June, reveals that a considerable number (36.2%) of these positive tests occurred at a Ct > 33, a level generally considered by the medical community to be associated with extremely low Covid-19 infectiousness

Initial analysis of this data also confirms the need for all future RIDOH reports of daily positive test results to include breakdowns of the Ct data

Deeper analysis of even more data can be immensely important in determining more data-driven, targeted, and effective public policies. I join with the Center in petitioning the state of Rhode Island to follow Florida’s lead and to immediately begin collecting and reporting Ct data for all Covid-19 PCR tests.”

The data includes 9,878 COVID-19 tests divided into two “N” groups corresponding to each other by day from February 29, 2020, through June 30, 2020.

The cycle threshold (Ct) value is the number of cycles needed for the virus to be detected from the person’s sample. The higher the Ct value the smaller the amount of virus present in the sample.
Most medical experts agree that Ct values over 33 likely indicate non-infectious, non-contagious levels of the virus. In practice, for example, the country of India only triages (treats or closely monitors) cases where the Ct values are less than 25.

Routine government collection and detailed reporting of this data can be enormously helpful in determining public policy, and in informing patients and their doctors when it comes to determining more appropriate individual quarantine and medical treatment regimens.

Of the total tests reported in Rhode Island, 51% had Ct values of 30 or higher, while 66% had values of 25 or higher.

Considered over the span of the report, Ct values gradually rose through May, after which they dropped along with the number of tests being conducted per day.

More important findings from the newly uncovered RI PCR test Ct data!

Recall I previously showed the Ct values of more than 5000 C19 PCR tests from the RI state health lab. Here they are again color coded for estimated infectivity. While all these folks were “positive”...Image
The green folks were likely not infective and the yellows may not have been. The higher the Ct score, the lower the viral load - the person is “less sick” or has remnant viral rna which can be detected for months while infectivity lasts maybe a week.
Yet it is nearly impossible to obtain Ct score data! Go ahead and ask for it- you will likely get a blank stare or a weak excuse about authorization or data storage. But you won’t get your Ct score. Ridiculous.
Now look what happens if we take the mean Ct values for each day- a clear trend emerges. As we moved into May the means climbed over 30. The average person receiving a positive test result was likely not infectious! What I believe @MichaelYeadon3 has termed a “cold positive”Image
The plot thickens when we add daily fatalities (7d ma). Here I have offset them by 21 days. The appropriate lag from test to fatality is arguable, but the point is as Ct values increase (avg viral load decreases), fatalities 3 weeks later decrease. Significantly...Image
As the average Ct rises past 30, deaths almost disappear.

Seems like reporting and tracking of Ct values would be very important for tracking the severity and progress of the pandemic! Trends in Ct PREDICT severity - and why wouldn’t they as Ct tracks viral load!
Yet we only receive a binary yes/no test result. PCR testing w/o Ct tracking is a blunt instrument used to bludgeon us into compliance and create a casedemic while the very important insights Ct scores could provide is ignored by “public health experts.” This must change!
Thanks again to @andrewbostom for suppling the data; uncovered via a FOIA request by

PCR Ct data revealed! For the first time we get a look at the Ct values from a state health lab - these cover March-June 2020. First the scatter of all 5036 positive tests:
Next we look at the distribution of Ct values for all tests:
Finally, the temporal shift in percentage of tests with Ct > 32 (arguably a fair cutoff for infectious viral loads).
We can see even during the peak pandemic months 25% of tests were > 32 - and this was when mainly symptomatic folks were tested. In May-June as many as 2/3 of tests were non-infectious. The virus was waning AND testing protocols changing.
So we have clear indication that over the entire period, at least a quarter of tests were effectively false positives, with as many as 2/3 being false positives in May/June.
And the temporal shift in Ct distributions should be highly valuable in tracking the disease. Certainly these data are very important yet accessing it is extremely difficult! Why?
