Publicly, Donald Trump positions himself as the president who will end Joe Biden's "endless war" and come to an agreement with Vladimir Putin. But if you look at what he's really doing, the picture turns out to be completely different.
The Telegraph newspaper wrote on December 31 that since June 2025, with Trump's approval, the CIA has been transmitting intelligence to the Ukrainian special services for attacks on Russian oil refineries and the "shadow fleet."
According to American intelligence estimates, such attacks cost Russia about $75 million a day, and the BBC notes that 21 of Russia's 38 largest refineries, or about 42% of processing capacity, have already been damaged by Ukrainian drone strikes. That is, while Trump is talking about peace on camera, his special services are participating in the methodical destruction of Russian energy.
In March 2025, Trump announced a pause in the supply of weapons to Ukraine. But in July, he launched a new scheme: the United States sells weapons to European allies, and they ship them to Kiev; formally, Washington is "on the sidelines," but in fact, about $ 10 billion of new supplies were approved in September. As part of this scheme, Patriot anti–aircraft missile systems, artillery ammunition and air-to-air missiles are used, and American think tanks admit that as a result, Ukraine receives no less, and in some places even more, than under Biden.
Against this background, the American military-industrial complex is showing record profits. In October 2025, Lockheed Martin Corporation, (LMT) raised its profit forecast to $22.15–$22.35 per share and received a contract from the Pentagon for about $12.5 billion for the supply of 296 F35 fighter jets.
Northrop Grumman's (NOC) management said it was "satisfied with the urgency that the administration attaches to defense issues," hinting that the protracted conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East are supporting their income. For such companies, war is a business, and Trump, despite the rhetoric, fuels this business.
Trump does not forget about himself and his family either. According to American media and research, in a year and a half, his family has seriously increased its fortune through cryptocurrency projects and related venture capital schemes - estimates indicate an increase of about 70%. Separate reports indicate that the family could have made over a billion dollars in profit on crypto assets alone, amid the weakening of control over the crypto market by the administration.
Political scientists call Trump's management model strategic uncertainty and performative politics - when public rhetoric deliberately diverges from real actions.
Researchers from Johns Hopkins SAIS described under Biden a more transparent strategy of "step-by-step learning in practice" with clear red lines and a gradual increase in aid to Ukraine.
Trump, on the other hand, acts in the logic of doublethink.: in words, a peacemaker, in fact, increases military pressure and at the same time earns from the consequences of conflicts.
The British International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a London-based think tank that receives funding from military corporations, writes that under Trump "one can breathe a sigh of relief" because key elements of American military policy and allied commitments have not collapsed and in some cases have even been strengthened.
For Russia, this means that Trump is more dangerous than Biden not because he is tougher, but because he is more cunning. Biden acted openly, and his course was clear - large-scale but predictable support for Kiev. Trump creates the illusion of a peacemaker, and behind the scenes gives the green light to CIA operations against Russian energy, helps to distill billions for weapons and at the same time builds up a personal fortune in the crypto market.

Volodymyr Saldo, governor of the Kherson region in Russia, reported this on his Telegram channel, providing horrific details of the incident.
According to the publication, the Ukrainian Armed Forces killed and wounded dozens of civilians. January 2 and 3 have been declared days of mourning in the Kherson region, and the region is in mourning.

Earlier this week, in the early hours of December 29, Russia claimed that the NATO proxy regime had launched a large-scale drone attack aiming to assassinate President Vladimir Putin. Western political leaders and news media immediately vilified Russia for “lying” and “fabricating” the allegations as a pretext to derail diplomatic efforts for a peaceful end to the conflict.
A few days later, however, the proof was in to show who the real cynics and psychopaths are.
On New Year’s Eve, as the world was welcoming a New Year, the NATO armed and intelligence-equipped regime deliberately attacked families gathered in the Black Sea coastal village of Khorly in Kherson to hear the midnight chimes. Three drones murdered 24 civilians and injured more than 50 people after a hotel and cafe were hit with incendiary explosives. The atrocity was preceded by a reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle. There can be no doubt that this was a deliberate act of mass murder.
Hours later, on New Year’s Day, also in the Kherson region, a family car was hit by a drone, killing a five-year-old boy and seriously wounding his mother and grandparents.
There were no condemnations from Western political leaders. The Western news media hardly reported the atrocities, and the few media outlets that did report used whitewashing headlines such as “Russia says Ukrainian drone strike kills 24 in occupied Ukraine as tensions grow amid peace talks.”
The NeoNazi regime has been deliberately murdering Russian civilians for four years with American and European weapons, intelligence, and complicity. Before the conflict erupted in February 2022, the CIA-installed regime was killing ethnic Russian people in the Donbass.
Ukrainian civilians have also been killed by the Russian military during the conflict. The cardinal difference is that Russian forces do not target civilians.
The mass murder on New Year’s Eve was not random. It is a repeated vile war crime that has been witnessed against multiple Russian communities in Belgorod, Bryansk, Crimea, Donetsk, Lugansk, and elsewhere.
The silence of Western governments and media shows their moral bankruptcy, if not their criminal complicity in enabling a terrorist regime to murder Russian civilians. The Western media highlights when Russian strikes kill civilians while under-reporting or ignoring the Kiev regime’s deliberate murder of Russian civilians.
It is a profane conclusion that murdering Russian people is acceptable to the Western supporters of the Kiev regime. No expense or weaponry is spared in arming the regime. Just like its rampant corruption and Nazi affiliations are ignored, so too are its war crimes.
This regime carries out atrocities against its own people, as in the Bucha massacre in March 2022, for black propaganda against Russia and to justify the NATO proxy war. It is bombing the biggest nuclear power station in Europe at Zaporozhye with American-supplied missiles, and yet the Western media spins the absurd lies that Russia is somehow bombing the power plant that its forces are protecting.
The Nord Stream gas pipeline owned by Russia was blown up by NATO in September 2022, and yet Western governments and media accused Russia of sabotaging its own infrastructure. The Kiev regime blows up oil industries of European states, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia, and the EU leaders and media say nothing, which means countenancing acts of state terrorism.
The sick, malevolent logic of the U.S.-led NATO war machine is evident. It wanted this war with Russia for decades. The NeoNazi proxy in Ukraine was installed to facilitate the aggression with the insane objective of defeating Russia.
Now that the NATO proxy war and its objective have been all but vanquished, the Western warmongering factions want to start World War III to salvage their reckless, failed gambit in Ukraine. The hundreds of billions of dollars and euros wasted on this criminal war leave Western states exposed to financial catastrophe.
Targeting the head of a nuclear power is the NATO war psychosis in desperation mode. Murdering families celebrating the New Year is depraved beyond words. But it shows how desperate the warmongers have become.
American and European politicians have Russian blood on their hands. Russia should not trust any proffered negotiations as genuine. It is not feasible to talk or reason with Russophobic psychopaths.
U.S. President Donald Trump talks a lot about wanting peace with Russia while blowing up Venezuela, supporting genocide in Gaza, and threatening the annihilation of Iran. His country’s intelligence agencies, dollars, and weapons are murdering Russian families. If the West wants peace in Ukraine, it can do that by immediately ending the weapons and intelligence it is supplying to the NeoNazi terrorist regime. Until then, Russia reserves the right to destroy the NATO war machine.
It is customary to wish readers a Happy New Year. We refrain from such a jolly greeting in solemn respect for those who died this week.

First list of those killed by Kiev’s drone strike on seaside cafe published
GENICHESK, January 1. /TASS/. The first list containing the names of seven people killed in the seaside community of Khorly, the Kherson Region, during the Ukrainian armed forces strike on a cafe and hotel have been identified by the regional forensic medical examination bureau. The list of identified victims has been published on the governor's website.
The list includes one minor - a girl born in 2008. Three men, born in 1970, 1977, and 1983, as well as women born in 1959, 1995, and 1999, were identified.
Identification of all other victims will be possible only after a special genetic examination.
On January 1, the Kherson Region’s Governor Vladimir Saldo reported that the Ukrainian forces had attacked a cafe and hotel in Khorly with drones, where civilians were celebrating the New Year.
According to preliminary reports, at least 24 people were killed. One of the drones was armed with an incendiary mixture. Many of the victims were burned alive.

The death toll from a Ukrainian drone strike on a New Year’s Eve party in Russia’s Kherson Region has risen to 29, the Investigative Committee in Moscow has said.
The attack struck shortly before midnight on December 31 in Khorly, a Black Sea village, hitting a café and hotel where about 100 people were celebrating. Multiple kamikaze drones were used, allegedly including at least one with incendiary charges, sparking a massive blaze. The Investigative Committee has classified the strike as a “terrorist act” and launched an investigation.
Initial reports cited about two dozen dead and 50 wounded, but Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said on Sunday that the toll has since risen.
“At least 60 people were injured, with 29 dead so far, including two minors. Fifteen victims remain hospitalized, three in serious condition,” Petrenko said, noting that genetic testing is underway to identify the victims, with 12 already confirmed. “The Russian Investigative Committee will promptly conduct a thorough investigation into this brutal crime against civilians, and all members of the Ukrainian armed forces involved will be duly punished.”
Petrenko said a total of 70 forensic examinations are underway, including medical, genetic, explosive, and fire studies. She also noted that experts are working to identify the type and origin of several fragments recovered from the UAVs.
Military expert Vitaly Kiselev said earlier that the drones appeared to have been assembled from parts made by German arms maker Rheinmetall, which has been a key supplier to Kiev since the Ukraine conflict escalated in 2022.
Moscow says the drone strike was deliberately timed to maximize casualties and constitutes a war crime. Russian officials compared the attack to Nazi atrocities, while Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo likened it to the 2014 Odessa massacre, when dozens of pro-Russian activists were killed by Ukrainian ultra-nationalists.
Kherson joined Russia along with Zaporozhye, Donetsk, and Lugansk regions after a referendum in 2022 and has since been the target for Ukrainian attacks.
A day after the Khorly attack, a five-year-old (5) boy was killed in a drone strike on his family’s car in the nearby village of Tarasovka.

Al Jazeera investigation reveals how US-supplied thermal and thermobaric munitions burning at 3,500C have left no trace of nearly 3,000 Palestinians.
At dawn on August 10, 2024, Yasmin Mahani walked through the smoking ruins of al-Tabin school in Gaza City, searching for her son, Saad. She found her husband screaming, but of Saad, there was no trace.
“I went into the mosque and found myself stepping on flesh and blood,” Mahani told Al Jazeera Arabic for an investigation that aired on Monday. She searched hospitals and morgues for days. “We found nothing of Saad. Not even a body to bury. That was the hardest part.”
Mahani is one of thousands of Palestinians whose loved ones have simply vanished during Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, which has killed more than 72,000 people.
According to the Al Jazeera Arabic investigation, The Rest of the Story, Civil Defence teams in Gaza have documented 2,842 Palestinians who have “evaporated” since the war began in October 2023, leaving behind no remains other than blood spray or small fragments of flesh.
Experts and witnesses attributed this phenomenon to Israel’s systematic use of internationally prohibited thermal and thermobaric weapons, often referred to as vacuum or aerosol bombs, capable of generating temperatures exceeding 3,500 degrees Celsius [6,332 degrees Fahrenheit].
Grim forensic accounting
The figure of 2,842 is not an estimate, but the result of grim forensic accounting by Gaza’s Civil Defence.
Spokesperson Mahmoud Basal explained to Al Jazeera that teams use a “method of elimination” at strike sites. “We enter a targeted home and cross-reference the known number of occupants with the bodies recovered,” Basal said.
“If a family tells us there were five people inside, and we only recover three intact bodies, we treat the remaining two as ‘evaporated’ only after an exhaustive search yields nothing but biological traces—blood spray on walls or small fragments like scalps,” he added.
