According to the Alzheimer’s Association, the number of people diagnosed with this debilitating disease is on the rise. It is expected that by the year 2050 almost 14 million people will be living with the condition known to rob people of their memory and impose anxiety and confusion.
Presently, over 5 million people suffer the effects of this disease that is now known as the 7th leading cause of death in our country. It is estimated that over $148 billion is spent each year treating this disease.
There are no pharmaceutical options available to treat, halt or reverse the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. Drugs being created now are made to reduce the amyloid plaques, made from a protein called Amyloid B (AB) that build up on the brain. These are a trademark of the disease.
However, recent studies reveal that small clumps of AB call oligomers appear years before the plaques even start to develop. The molecular structure of these oligomers is very different from AB.
Further, they found that drugs designed to destroy amyloid plaques have no effect on oligomers. This could explain why experimental Alzheimer’s drugs have failed; they are focused on plaques, not their precursor, oligomers.
Case Study: A Natural Approach
Mary Newport, MD, has had some up close and highly personal experience with dementia and Alzheimer’s. When her 53 year old husband started showing signs of progressive dementia, which was later diagnosed as Alzheimer’s, she took action.
He began taking Alzheimer’s drugs such as Namenda, Exelon and Aricept – however, his disease continued to worsen. It was not until Dr. Newport tried to get her husband into a drug trial for a new Alzheimer’s drug that she started to research Alzheimer’s triggers.
Her research led her to the discovery that some brain cells may have a difficult time using glucose – the brain’s main source of energy. Without this fuel, neurons begin to die. An alternative energy source for brain cells is fats, known as ketones. When the body is deprived of carbohydrates, it naturally produces ketones.
The hard part is that most people can’t cut carbohydrates out of the body altogether, and in many respects this can be unhealthy. So another way to produce ketones is by consuming oils made from medium-chain triglycerides. MCT is an oil that is made from coconut and palm oil.

The drug which was being used in the drug trial was just MCT oil at a dose of 20 grams. When MCT oil is metabolized, ketones, which are created by the body, not only protect against Alzheimer’s but may also reverse the symptoms. This is also a potential treatment for Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, type 2 diabetes and multiple and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Mr. Newport began to take coconut oil twice a day at a point where he could not even remember how to draw a clock. Two weeks after adding coconut oil to his diet his drawing ability improved. After a little over a month, the drawing had more clarity. It appeared as though the oil was lifting the fog.
After sixty days, he was alert, talkative and happy. He had more focus and concentration and was able to stay on task. He kept taking the same amount of coconut oil each day and the dementia continued to reverse.
He was able to run again, and his reading comprehension improved dramatically. Over time, his short-term memory returned, and he was able to talk about past events with clarity. When he had a brain scan, the atrophy that had once been present was halted.

What we Know
coconut oilWe know that Alzheimer’s drugs have failed. We know that a drug company put a non-patentable natural substance (MCT) through an FDA trial, and it worked. But, it has now been discovered that a natural substance can be substituted for the expensive drug.
The amazing thing is that the natural substitute works better than the drug version. The ketones actually last for eight hours in the body when coconut oil is used versus three when the synthetic version is used. If this actually catches on, it could bring the drug monopolies to their knees!
The benefits of organic coconut oil are remarkable and well documented. Always use high quality Extra Virgin Unrefined and Organic Coconut Oil.

Is Cancer a fungus?

Is Cancer a fungus?

Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation are the three conventional options for someone with Cancer, and yet actual statistics on their effectiveness are hard to find.

One study (Journal of Clinical Oncology Dec 2004) shows that chemotherapy has an average 5-year survival success rate of just over 2% for all cancers. In Australia almost identical results have been reported with a 2.3% success rate.
So what causes Cancer?
Research has pointed to genetics as being a small causal factor, although not to the extent conventional medicine has led us to believe. Little attention has been given to more mundane factors such as infection.

Proponents of the theory that Cancer is indeed a fungus are the likes of Italian Oncologist Dr Tullio Simoncini; some doctors such as Dr Allen Levin MD (Author “The Healing of Cancer”) and Professor Gorge Mathe believe that chemotherapy may be the cause of death, and believe staying away from it may increase a patient’s chances of survival.
There are many perspectives on the causes of Cancer, but fungus has implications for all of us, even without the threat of cancer.
Many ways to take care of the body
Many ways to take care of the body
Something as simple as a fungus….
According to Dr Simoncini, cancer is a way for the body to protect itself from fungus. Candida that we are all familiar with, a yeast–like parasitic fungus, that becomes imbalanced, he believes, is the leading cause of cancer. http://www.curenaturalicancro.com/
Studies have shown between 79 and 97% of cancer patients have imbalanced Candida.
The body weakens in response to the Candida that spreads from a particular area to the whole body. It is highly adaptive and so can adjust to the different environments within the body’s different organs. An organic defensive reaction by the body causes cellular hyper-production which encysts the fungal colonies….Cancer.
Enough information I am sure…
One Cure:
Simoncini recommends bicarbonate of soda (baking soda), an anti-fungal, which he thinks is better than anti-fungal drugs, because the fungi do not adapt to the baking soda. (They can adapt to anti-fungals in the space of three to four days)
Baking Soda is however difficult to administer, as it needs to be injected into the tumour itself. If anyone knows of medical professionals performing this procedure and also IV Vitamin C with success, please be in touch with me.

It would seem that in view of the ability by invasive organisms (bacteria and fungus) to adopt social communication systems within the body, alternative methods to suppressing cancer might be worth trying.

fungus10 common Candida symptoms:
  1. Skin and nail fungal infections (such as athlete’s foot or toenail fungus)
  2. Feeling tired and worn down or suffering from chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia
  3. Digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, or diarrhea
  4. Autoimmune disease such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Ulcerative colitis, Lupus, Psoriasis, Scleroderma or Multiple sclerosis
  5. Difficulty concentrating, poor memory, lack of focus, ADD, ADHD and brain fog
  6. Issues such as eczema, psoriasis, hives, and rashes
  7. Irritability, mood swings, anxiety, or depression
  8. Vaginal infections, urinary tract infections, rectal itching or vaginal itching
  9. Strong sugar and refined carbohydrate cravings
  10. Severe seasonal allergies or itchy ears

Candida is helpful as an indicator your body is too acid: By altering the acid/alkaline balance of your body (bicarbonate of soda is alkaline), you can then make the environment more hostile for Candida and other infections to develop. Also into the bargain, you may dispel other symptoms, like depression, which treated in isolation might lead you down a false trail.
For suggestions about the best alkaline diet for you, a kinesiology approach to asking the body the right foods or supplements for it at any given time, and for a way of testing that those foods are tolerated by the body and used to their utmost efficiency, I offer appointments covering all these questions and more.
Finally:
Health Kinesiology, within the context of Giulia Holland Associates, offers many ways to approach Cancer: these are emotional release, spiritual nurturing, nutritional and lifestyle recommendations as well as non-scientific alternatives to the treatment of Cancer, which have gained anecdotal evidence in their favour. These include, Bicarbonate of Soda, IV Vitamin C and Essiac herbs. Additional support is also available from the Penny Brohn Cancer Care Centre, near Bristol www.pennybrohncancercare.org/
Cancer is often precipitated by emotional events like the loss of a son, an acrimonious divorce, shock and many other life events; over the last twenty years I have met people who can pinpoint such events in their lives that have become a turning point, and as a result of much soul-searching their bodies have become whole again.
Make your turning point be NOW – and make it a positive one!

13 Evidence-Based Medicinal Properties of Coconut Oil

13 Evidence-Based Medicinal Properties of Coconut Oil

While coconut oil has dragged itself out of the muck of vast misrepresentation over the past few years, it still rarely gets the appreciation it truly deserves.  Not just a "good" saturated fat, coconut oil is an exceptional healing agent as well, with loads of useful health applications.

Some examples of "good" saturated fat include

  • Fat-burning: Ironic, isn't it? A saturated fat which can accelerate the loss of midsection fat (the most dangerous kind). Well, there are now two solid, human studies showing just two tablespoons a day (30 ml), in both men and women, is capable of reducing belly fat within 1-3 months.
  • Brain-Boosting: A now famous study, published in 2006 in the journal Neurobiology of Aging, showed that the administration of medium chain triglycerides (most plentifully found in coconut oil) in 20 subjects with Alzheimer's disease or mild cognitive impairment, resulted in significant increases in ketone bodies (within only 90 minutes after treatment) associated with measurable cognitive improvement in those with less severe cognitive dysfunction.[i]
  • Clearing Head Lice: When combined with anise spray, coconut oil was found to be superior to the insecticide permethrin (.43%).[ii]
  • Healing WoundsCoconut has been used for wound healing since time immemorial.  Three of the identified mechanisms behind these healing effects are its ability to accelerate re-epithelialization, improve antioxidant enzyme activity, and stimulate higher collagen cross-linking within the tissue being repaired.[iii]  Coconut oil has even been shown to work synergistically with traditional treatments, such as silver sulphadizine, to speed burn wound recovery.[iv]
  • NSAID Alternative: Coconut oil has been demonstrated to have anti-inflammatory, analgesic and fever-reducing properties.[v]
  • Anti-Ulcer Activity: Interestingly, coconut milk (which includes coconut oil components), has been shown to be as effective as the conventional drug sucralfate as an NSAID-associated anti-ulcer agent.[vi]
  • Anti-Fungal: In 2004, 52 isolates of Candida species were exposed to coconut oil. The most notorious form, Candida albicans, was found to have the highest susceptibility. Researchers remarked: "Coconut oil should be used in the treatment of fungal infections in view of emerging drug-resistant Candida species."[vii]
  • Testosterone-Booster: Coconut oil was found to reduce oxidative stress in the testes of rats, resulting in significantly higher levels of testosterone.[viii]
  • Reducing Swollen Prostate: Coconut oil has been found to reduce testosterone-induced benign prostate growth in rats.[ix]
  • Improving Blood Lipids: Coconut oil consistently improves the LDL:HDL ratio in the blood of those who consume it.  Given this effect, coconut oil can nolonger be dismissed for being 'that saturated fat which clogs the arteries.'
  • Fat-Soluble Nutrient Absorption: Coconut oil was recently found to be superior to safflower oil in enhancing tomato carotenoid absorption.[x]
  • Bone Health: Coconut oil has been shown to reduce oxidative stress within the bone, which may prevent structural damage in osteoporotic bone.[xi] [Note: Osteoporosis is a Myth, as presently defined by the T-Score]
  • Sunscreen: Coconut oil has been shown to block out UV rays by 30%. Keep in mind that this is good, insofar as UVA rays are damaging to the skin, whereas UVB rays are highly beneficial (when exposure is moderate).[i]  Make sure to check this list of other sun-blocking oils.
Of course, when speaking about coconut oil, we are only looking at one part of the amazing coconut palm.  Each component, including coconut hull fibercoconut protein and coconut water has experimentally confirmed therapeutic applications.
