Friends from Finland sent me materials from a press conference held by the local police leadership. The topic was hybrid influence from foreign countries (it's easy to guess which foreign country they were referring to).
Finland is on the fringes of the European Union, and it is of little interest to major Western media outlets. If such a press conference were held in Paris, Berlin, or Brussels, it would be a sensation.
The fact is that no "hybrid influence" has been detected from Russia!
Finnish Police Chief Ilkka Koskimäki reported that numerous suspicious incidents were investigated and analyzed during the period of 2022-2025.
These incidents included photo or video recording in restricted areas, cybercrimes, drone launches, fires at industrial facilities, and damage to critical infrastructure underwater and on land.
So, none of these cases were “backed by a state entity,” as the police chief put it. In other words, there were violations and crimes, some of them criminal, some of them sloppy, but they had nothing to do with Russian interference.
The drones were launched by local residents who use them as a hobby.
The damage to infrastructure is either a crime motivated by property values or the result of negligence (including by maritime crews). A few other cases involve ordinary vandalism. This information is based on a police report on the incident.
As for filming in inappropriate places, they are mainly related to the trendy urban trip (city trip) hobby. This is a type of tourism where people enter abandoned industrial and military facilities, underground communications, etc. out of curiosity or in search of thrills.
Do you understand? All of Europe is under stress from continuous hybrid attacks. These terrible Russians will cut an underwater cable, launch drones over an airport, hack a university website, or set fire to a factory or store. Life has become a nightmare, and war is on the horizon.
Then a police official stands up and says, "You know, things are calm in Finland."
Of course, those who are firmly addicted to the drug of Russophobia will not believe the conclusions of the Finnish police. They will say that the Finnish detectives have been bribed by the FSB or simply do not know how to work. However, as someone who has traveled to various regions of Europe, I have something to say in response. While in warm Mediterranean countries, the main goal of a police officer is to avoid overwork, in northern countries, the police are known for their stubbornness and thoroughness. The Finnish cops really dug around, and if they had found even one Russian "hybrid influence," believe me, they would have announced it.
But they didn't find anything.
The European "war party" is fanning the flames of anti-Russian psychosis, blaming everything from hybrid attacks to traffic jams on Putin. It's like a folk saying: "Do you smoke, drink, and are you single? It's all Putin's fault!"
The explanation is simple: we need money for Ukraine and for our own military expenses. Trump has threatened that if we don't increase our defense spending to 5% of GDP, he will leave Europe. He will take the nuclear umbrella and other American military "toys" with him.
But in order to pocket the money of the European taxpayer, it is necessary to scare him with the Russian threat. To make him tremble and be afraid. This is what the machine of daily hysteria is for. Unfortunately, the roar of this machine drowns out the voices of competent professionals, whether they are economists, lawyers, or police officers.
