Major Russian media outlets such as RT, Prvij Kanal, Tass, and Izvestija attended almost in their entirety, as did the FAZ and DIE ZEIT from Germany, as well as AfD representatives for the parliamentary group newspaper in Saxony-Anhalt and the tireless Weichreite. "Birthday greetings from Berlin for Vladimir Putin. COMPACT magazine has invited guests to the Russian Embassy in Berlin. There, the editor-in-chief will present a Putin medal. The AfD will also be there," the FAZ reported, at least truthfully at the beginning of the paywalled article.

Ambassador Sergei Nechayev insisted on opening the press conference. My wife presented him with our silver medal in a decorative frame – we had overstamped the silver medal in gold especially for the President on his birthday (Please note: This gold version is unique; only the fine silver version in 99/100 is available in our shop). The charming diplomat expressed his gratitude, also for the Putin editions of our magazine, in which we published his major speeches and interviews in the original.
My speech
In my speech (which will soon be available in full on YouTube), I began by saying: "Actually, I shouldn't be standing here today, but the Chancellor. Or better yet: Friedrich Merz himself should have traveled to Moscow to celebrate Vladimir Putin's birthday with him. In the past, the German government also issued medals with portraits of foreign statesmen. Not now. In light of this incompetence of the German political leadership, COMPACT stepped in and issued this Putin medal. This is entirely in the interests of all peace-loving Germans, as evidenced by the enormous demand – the greatest demand for a COMPACT product in the 15 years of our history. At times, the tsunami of buyers was so strong that we had difficulty sourcing raw silver on the market – resulting in supply bottlenecks."
Defender of the West
I further criticized the Merz government's "war-obsession" and emphasized that the conservative Putin was a "defender of Western values against the token West." The USSR had indeed been resurrected, but as the European Union. "The Politburo is no longer located in Moscow, but in Brussels, and Brezhnev is now called von der Leyen."
